Final thesis: Smart Glove for Sign Language Recognition

Developed a handy smart glove for real-time sign language recognition using embedded AI.

  • Designed the hardware using ESP32-S3, ESP32C6, Flex sensors, IMU,...
  • Compressed C-LSTM model for efficient inference on smart glove.
  • Implemented real-time sign language recognition algorithms.
  • Output voices for sign language interpretation.

Project: Fall Detection System (Radar-based)

Developed a privacy-preserving fall detection system using 60GHz radar and ESP32-S3.

  • Processed radar data on ESP32-S3 to detect 100% fall detections using embedded AI.
  • Implemented IoT communication via MQTT for real-time alerts to server.
  • Managed tasks and event handling using FreeRTOS.
  • Designed OTA updates and explored radar signal characteristics.

Project: Medical Diagnostic Support Belt

Led firmware and embedded AI development for a wearable posture monitoring system on Nordic nRF SoCs.

  • Developed posture classification and activity recognition using embedded ML.
  • Deployed optimized and quantized models via Edge Impulse on nRF5340 (Thingy:53) SoC.
  • Implemented real-time firmware in C using Zephyr RTOS for efficient task scheduling and low-power operation.
  • Built Python-based data collection pipelines and preprocessing tools for model training.

Project: AirMouse (BLE HID Controller)

Developed an AirMouse prototype that captures hand motion and gesture signals, then controls a PC as a wireless mouse.

  • Built firmware on ESP32-S3 and ESP32-C6 to acquire real-time signals from IMU and flex sensors.
  • Implemented BLE HID profile to connect directly to laptops/desktops without a dedicated receiver.
  • Validated cross-platform operation on Windows and macOS.
  • Used RTOS task scheduling for sensor sampling, HID reporting, and UI updates on an LCD display.
